Coach Wilkinson has over 35 years experience of coaching players of all ages and abilities. Ian has coached players from 56 countries.  Sir Sean Connery and Sting have benefited from Ians advice. Ian has been a County Coach for Durham and Cleveland, boys and girls and has played tennis to County Level.

Coach Wilkinson is :
an LTA qualified ( Part 2 1982 ) and Fully Licensed Coach and a
Grade A  Durham Sport Coach

Has coached at :
The Bjorn Borg Tennis School in Marbella, Spain ,
The International Tennis Club  Marbella and 
The Harry Hopman International Tennis School, Bologna, Italy.

Coach Wilkinson established ROO TENNIS in 1995 and has introduced tennis playing, and competitive opportunities in schools and clubs in  County Durham, Cleveland, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria & Kent.
Appointed Ambassador For Tennis for the Tony Blair Sports Foundation in 2007.

ROO TENNIS PROGRAMME GUIDE

Mini Tennis - Ages 4 to 9 Years
An introduction using lighter balls and shorter rackets.  Played on Mini Courts over a lower net.  Aims to develop ball handling skills, coordination and basic strokes.  Players work towards Fun Tournaments with simple scoring and rules.

Development Squads - Ages 9 to13 Years
Coaching in small groups using a mid-paced ball.  A wider range of strokes and movement techniques are introduced.  Tactics for singles and doubles are planned.  Players move towards one set matches and tennis competitions at the players level.

Squad Coaching - Ages 13 to 16 Years
A full size racket and regulation ball is used.  Advanced strokes aiming to utilise spin are developed.  Players will compete in three set matches where possible, will represent the school in competitions and enter local tournaments.  Players will be awarded an LTA Rating.

ROO TENNIS Academy
Smaller group coaching and individual lessons will be arranged for more committed and improving players. Invitation only.

ROO TENNIS Camps
School holidays present the opportunity for players to learn and practice tennis skills in a friendly, fun and entertaining environment. Camps last up to 4 hours a day. They give players opportunity to socialise and meet new friends.

HOW TO GET TO GREENFIELD TENNIS

From the A1M ( J58 ) and Darlington : Follow the sign to Bishop Auckland ( A68 ). At the first roundabout take the 2nd exit to Aycliffe Industrial Park. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit to School Aycliffe. At the next mini roundabout turn left. Go past the Railway Station, cross a mini roundabout and Greenfield School is on the left.

FROM A1M ( J60 ) and Durham : On A689 to Bishop Auckland, At Eden Arms Hotel, Rushyford roundabout take the 2nd exit, turn left to Shildon. At Lakeside Golf Club roundabout take the 2nd exit. Continue past a petrol station  on the right and Byerley Park Junior School.
Greenfield School is on the right.
